YOGA BASICS

Explore your body and mind through the practice of Kripalu Yoga and meditation. This moderate-level class will give you the opportunity to stretch and release tension from both mind and body. A strong practice of asana and then deep relaxation is followed by meditation. Ashtanga is meditation in motion. It is a set sequence of postures that work along with breathing and internal locks to be a complete system of health and wellness. Over time the practice helps to improve strength, breathing, flexibility, overall fitness , concentration and reduce stress . Although considered to be a vigorous yoga practice, this class offers modifications for all levels of strength and fitness. Baptiste Style Power Vinyasa Yoga has created a flowing, challenging, strength building, and moving meditation accessible to just about everybody. We practice in a heated room to help open the body and deepen the experience of release. It is a practice designed to invite and take you to your physical and mental edge. The relationship between effort and ease, doing and non-doing, strength and flexibility all relate to bringing not only the body, but your whole being in to a state of equanimity. Dress in layers for your comfort. Wear easy-fitting clothing appropriate for movement
Yoga is best on an empty stomach. If you need, have a light snack (fruit) one hour before class.
Please leave cell phones and other electronic devices outside of class.
If you are new to yoga, it is suggested you try at least 3 classes to get an idea of the practice. All ages, shapes and levels of flexibility can benefit from yoga.
It is ALWAYS recommended to check with your physician before starting any exercise program.
